Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival 2012
July 13, 2012I was lucky to have Elwyn and Melissa, whom I met through blogging and events in Malaysia, to came to Dunedin for a visit. Unfortunately, my second semester classes had already begin when they came here so I didn't have much time to spend with them. However, they've explored more places compared to me although I've been in Dunedin longer than them. I really need to go out more aye?
Last year, if you haven't already know, I was being anti-social and always stayed at home. I never been to Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival and it is one of the big events happening here in Dunedin every year! This year, I decided to join as many programmes as possible and I have my blogger friends to join me as well =) woohoooo
Finally landed my foot at the Cadbury factory here in Dunedin! And dragged boyfriend along because he haven't been here before either.
Visitor Exhibition centre. This section of the factory is free of charge.

Facts about Cadbury Chocolate
or chocolate in general
We couldn't get tickets for a tour in the factory that day so we just visited the Exhibition Centre and bought tour ticket on the following day before leaving.
On the following day, boyfriend couldn't join us for tour in the factory so I went with just Elwyn and Melissa.
Guys had to wear beard mask! Funny haha.
We went for full tour and we are not allowed to take pictures so here's some pictures taken outside the factory =)
Eh, my clothes matches with the car.
Apparently this was the first car used to carry chocolates?
It was like 20km/h hour speed maximum.
Obviously you can't drive it now but they repainted it and exhibited outside the factory.
If you're wondering, behind of us is a mountain filled with Crunchies!!
We're being so Asian taking lots of pictures!!
Yummm....wonder if they replaced the Crunchies once a year? or never?
Melissa and me. She is like super tall so she can blend in with the ang mohs here. Unlike me.
Some chocolates we get for free in the tour.
One other events that I went during the Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival week was watching magic show at Meridian Mall. Boyfriend and Devind came as well. I had lunch break between classes so just went and watch magic show. Like a kid.
Mostly attended were kids and their moms.
Felt awkward but hey, it was fun =) He did some tricks on us as well!
The last and most important events that I HAVE TO ATTEND is the Cadbury Chocolate Jaffa Race! Last year I didn't get to attend because I have class. This year, the Jaffa Race held during my class as well. I thought, what if next year it's during my class/lab? Then I couldn't attend this popular events at all! I can't afford to skip my final year classes next year =X
So, I skipped one lecture today to attend the Cadbury Chocolate Jaffa Race. I went there alone. I knew Elwyn and Melissa would be there but how am I going to spot them with so many people around. I ran out of text too! Luckily I bumped into Hafiz, and many other people.
Chocolate man =D Yummms

ermm, I don't know what he was doing.
Cadbury Chocolate Jaffa Race held in The World's Steepest Road every year.

Jaffa chocolate is actually like a ball of chocolate coated with candy outside. In this race, you would buy number (like buying toto) and each jaffa chocolate has number on them. They will release it down and first one to reach down is the winner.
A lot of chocolate would be thrown out of the road while rolling down due to being too light and the road is too steep.
I bought one jaffa ticket myself. Hehe.
It was not a good weather on that day. Not windy, just drizzling.
There were two rounds of jaffa race - red then black and white.
After they released the jaffa chocolate, they will have to clear up the road before releasing the second round.
The event was quite short. Was like 1 hour only. Which is good for me because I have to rush to my lab now.
There were paparazzi interviewing the crowd.
Luckily Dulcie offered me a ride and managed to get me back to Uni on time before my lab =)
last shot of myself before leaving.
The traffic was so bad. I heard people saying that they were stuck for 2 hours. Thank god it clears after a while, if not I would have reached Uni faster by walking than car!
I feel so happy because I can finally attend the Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival. Although I heard that last year's carnival was better, I enjoyed myself in this year's carnival. If I have chance to attend this carnival next year, I would. Again.
